Communities
At Bishop Perowne College, all students and staff belong to one of the four communities: Duckworth, Fearnley, Perrins and Tilley.
The communities are organised vertically. This means that each tutor group consists of students from each of the five year groups. This innovation facilitates the forming of positive relationships across different age groups which means that the younger students benefit from the support and guidance of the older students and the older students are provided with opportunities to develop their mentoring skills. In addition, because each tutor has a small number of Year 11 students, tutors are able to focus intensively on these students in their final year.
We have a lively inter-community activity programme that engages the students throughout the year with activities from sports tournaments to baking competitions and obstacle races!
The care, guidance and support team operate at the heart of our College. The ethos of our work is to promote the education of each child whilst creating a culture based on Christian values. Students and carers view their tutor as the first ‘port of call.’ Community Leaders oversee these links and intervene where appropriate.
