The aims and objectives of the mathematics department at Bishop Perowne C of E College is to enable students to:

  • develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts
  • acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems
  • reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions
  • comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context.

The mathematics department has eight dedicated classrooms, all of which are fitted with interactive whiteboards enabling a visual and interactive learning experience.

We have extensive specialist knowledge and experience throughout the department, including a Lead Practitioner, which allows us to provide and engaging experience to our students.


Statement of Work

Student follow a 5 year scheme of work: to support and prepare them, as they work towards their GCSE at the end of Year 11.

Students will master content from the following mathematical areas:

1 Number

2 Algebra

3 Ratio, proportion and rates of change

4 Geometry and measures

5 Probability

6 Statistics
