Talented student presented with young musician award
Alfred Kelsey, a Year 11 student, is celebrating after being named as one of the winners of the Mayor's Best of Worcester Young Musician's Award 2020.
The awards celebrate the musical talent of young people in Worcester's schools as well as recognising those who make a difference in the local area. Alfred, an accomplished pianist, was presented with his award by Councillor Allah Ditta, Mayor of Worcester 2019-20, on Monday 14th December.
Councillor Ditta commented:
"All the young local musicians who were nominated for the award had exceptional talent, so huge congratulations to Alfred for being chosen as a winner. We visited all the nominees and met with Alfred at Bishop Perowne in January; his passion and love for the piano was clear to see. We wish him every success for the future."
Vicky Reeve-McKew, Head of Year 11 at Bishop Perowne, added:
"As well as offering a foundation of learning for important core academic subjects, we actively encourage students to focus on additional subjects that they engage with as we know the value this encouragement can have to a student's all-round learning. This award is recognition of the hard work and dedication Alfred puts into his music learning, and we're all extremely proud of him."
