Arts News Summer 2018
The arts department have once again had a fantastic term with a variety of different arts projects.
Specialist Intake and Silver Arts award – singing workshops with Rich Cottell
Specialist Intake students and Silver Arts award students were treated to a professional workshop with Rich Cottell. Students created eight original songs with backing tracks. Rich has performed professionally with bands such as Lil Mix and Olly Muirs.
On Tuesday 12th June forty five year 9 and 10 students attended a 'Creative Futures' day at the Hive in Worcester. Funded by The Arts Council England and Worcestershire County Council, the event offered students an opportunity to take part in a range of arts workshops and to work on projects which they might be able to bring back into their own school and the wider community.
In the morning students participated in two of three workshops including creative writing, drama and Visual Arts. Skills such as planning to write, being tolerant of the views of others and observation of detail, were among the many that students developed during the day.
The afternoon session was all about developing ideas for a community project which, if successful, will be supported by a £100 grant from the organisers for the best idea put forward.
It was a fun and informative day for all and an opportunity for many of our students to further develop their skills and knowledge towards completion of the Trinity College Silver Arts Award which they have been studying in school.
And then…. Congratulations!
