New Deputy Headteacher joins Bishop Perowne
We've welcomed new Deputy Headteacher Nigel Ford, who brings a wealth of experience to the school.
Mr Ford joins from Earls High School in Halesowen where he spent 17 years. He also supported various primary schools and was seconded to Newfield Primary School for a year and half alongside his role at Earls High School.
During his time at Newfield he gained a valuable insight into the requirements of pupils transitioning to secondary school, which is something he brings to Bishop Perowne. This experience will help to ensure new Year 7 students get the very best start to their secondary education.
Nigel Ford commented, "I've received an extremely warm welcome from everyone at Bishop Perowne, particularly the students. The relationship the students and teachers have has really impressed me and, with a passionate and strong leadership team in place, it's clear the school is on the right path; I'm looking forward to being part of its future success.
"I have a number of plans to ensure students feel safe and happy at the school, which have been fully supported by the Headteacher and governors. In particular I will be using the school's motto of Endeavour Forever to help empower students to take control of their lives, wellbeing and education and will also be looking at ways to ensure classrooms are equipped with the right tools so all students make outstanding progress."
Additionally, Mr Ford will be working to create a more robust attendance system and also reviewing and enhancing the existing pastoral care programme.
Mark Pollard, Headteacher, added, "We're delighted to have welcomed Mr Ford to Bishop Perowne. He has lots of exciting ideas that fit well with my vision of making Bishop Perowne an exceptional learning environment that always goes the extra mile for the benefit of our students."
