Students get a taste of life at Oxford University

A group of Year 10 students enjoyed an inspirational visit to Oriel College, Oxford on Monday 12th February to experience what life at one of the world's top universities would be like.
As well as receiving a talk about how to decide which university is right for them and the difference between a collegiate university and a campus university, the students also had the chance to hold a Q&A session with current Oriel College students.
The afternoon saw the students take part in a science, technology, engineering and maths taster session where they learnt how science can be taken out of the laboratory and applied to the natural environment. The day ended with a tour of Oxford University and Mansfield College.
Mark Pollard, Headteacher, commented: "Our students receive excellent advice about their future study options at school, but being able to give them the chance to experience a day at one of the world's top universities and talk to those that are studying there really helps them see what their hard work can achieve.
"The students enjoyed their visit and returned enthused about their future options. We hope to see some of them join other previous students who have gone on to study at either Oxford or Cambridge universities."
