Worcester Regional Dance Festival- 20th March 2012

Tuesday 20th March saw two extremely successful dance festivals held in the Perowne Theatre. With both primary and secondary schools attending the programs were both inspiring and delightful. Year 9 Dance Leaders were in charge of the festival and managed it effectively and seamlessly; praised by our visitors for their expert and courteous behavior and receiving excellent feedback.

This annual festival around the county has become the first stages of the prestigious Voices and Visions held at the Malvern Theatre in July. Students from Bishop Perowne performed Frey Halls ‘I lie awake’, Rachael Maltby’s ‘8.15 Hiroshima time’, Emily May’s ‘Angels one Five’ and the ‘Sands of Time’ based on the professional dance work ‘Perfect’ by Kevin Finnan. Additionally they were joined by Rebecca Price (Yr10) who performed her solo based on the dance work ‘Rosas danst Rosas’ by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and finally, Wireboyz who performed their recent work at the launch of the Cultural Olympiad for the West Midlands.

Our thanks goes to Cranham Primary School, Perdiswell Primary School, Northwick Manor, Gorse Hill Primary, St Georges Primary, St Clements Primary, Nunnery Wood High School, Christopher Whitehead Language College, Stanley Road Primary School, Claines Primary School , Perry Wood Primary School and Oldbury Park for such fantastic performances.
