Uniform

Our pupils are expected to wear their uniform correctly and neatly at all times throughout the school day. If any student attends school missing an item of uniform, parents/carers will be contacted immediately and asked to bring in the missing items.

We ask that parents/carers mark all items of clothing with the pupil's name, in order for us to return any lost possessions to the rightful owner.

Any items of clothing that are not part of our official uniform will be confiscated. Students can collect confiscated items at the end of the school day.

If any part of our school uniform policy causes a problem for religious reasons please do contact us.

The rules on days when students have PE/Dance on their timetable are:

Year 11 : After October half-term 2020 we will be opening changing rooms to enable Year 11 students to change for both Dance and PE. Year 11 students will need to be in full uniform every day, as in normal times, and bring their normal kit separately. We will clean changing rooms each day and will not allow any other year group access to these rooms to prevent any contamination across bubbles.

Years 7- 10 :

Girls should wear a navy blue polo shirt (with a collar) and preferably with a Bishop Perowne logo. We will accept a navy blue polo shirt with no logo as well. They can also wear a Bishop Perowne hoodie ONLY (hoods must be down) and/or a school blazer over the top. We will continue to accept full length navy blue or black tracksuit bottoms/leggings with minimal and small logos. The Bishop Perowne PE shorts and skorts can also continue to be worn, although we will not be accepting tight fitting, body hugging shorts. All shorts should be of a reasonable length and cover a significant part of the thigh (no short shorts).

Boys should wear a white polo shirt (with a collar) and preferably with a Bishop Perowne logo. We will accept a white polo shirt with no logo as well. Over the top of this the boys can wear a Bishop Perowne rugby shirt and/or Bishop Perowne hoodie ONLY (hoods must be down) and/or a school blazer. We will continue to accept full length navy blue or black tracksuit bottoms with minimal and small logos with PE shorts underneath. The Bishop Perowne PE shorts and skorts can also continue to be worn, although we will not be accepting tight fitting, body hugging shorts. All shorts should be of a reasonable length and cover a significant part of the thigh (no short shorts).

HAIR

  • Extreme or unconventional hairstyles for example hair tattoos are not permitted, hair colours should be natural. If you are in any doubt please contact the College prior to your son/daughter changing their hairstyle.  Head scarves worn for religious or cultural reasons should be plain and logo free.

OUTDOOR CLOTHING

  • Scarves and hats worn to and from College should be logo free.  A scarf in the College colours is available from Schooltogs. Scarves, hats and gloves should not be worn in the building including lessons.
  • Hoodies should not be worn in school as an outer layer (unless it is a Bishop Perowne hoodie being worn on a PE/Dance day as above). Students should consider bringing a coat to school more regularly. We deem an acceptable school coat to be a plain dark overcoat or anorak with minimal logos. Denim or leather jackets, shawls or ponchos, hooded tops or tracksuit tops are not acceptable as overgarments. School coats should also not be bright or pastel coloured.

JEWELLERY

  • A watch and one plain stud in the lobe of each ear is allowed.
  • Students considering having their ears pierced should do so at the start of the summer holidays so that ears have time to heal and sleepers can be removed.
  • Body jewellery (with the exception of one pair of ear studs) is not acceptable for health and safety reasons.

MAKE UP

  • With the exception of Year 11, facial makeup and nail varnish are not allowed.  In Year 11 only subtle facial makeup may be worn.
